Zuraida: PKR suit frivolous, waste of the courts time
I refer to the statement today by PKR that they have filed an RM10 million suit against me for leaving their party.
It is no surprise to me that my former party has brought such an absurd claim to court. Bankrupt of ideas for the improvement of the rakyat, they now rely on sensationalism and cheap publicity stunts.
This is just a waste of the court’s time. Any law student could have explained to the current PKR leadership that the court will not enforce any agreement that breaches the federal constitution. I refer them to the Federal court decisions in Datuk Ong Kee Hui and Nordin Salleh, as well as Article 10 of the Constitution.
PKR seems unaware that in our democracy, elected representatives are free to leave their political parties and for that matter I was sacked.
I left PKR because it no longer focused on the welfare of the people, but on the prime ministerial ambitions of one man. Their clamour to seize the PM’s position could be seen by the whole country during the 22 months of PH rule and now in the midst of Corona virus pendemic. To have stayed on in such a thoughtless party would have been against my conscience.
As for this utterly frivolous suit against me, bring it on!
