KKMM launches [email protected] vehicles to improve delivery information
RAUB (March 8): The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) today launched three units of vans belonging to the Information Department (JaPen) to improve information delivery performance to the people.
Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said the [email protected] vehicles would function as a mobile media centre, mobile news centre and mobile publication distribution centre.
He said the vehicles, worth RM1.2 million, were modified and equipped with various telecommunication facilities including internet access, public address system, television screens, workspaces and laptops.
“I am confident that (the use of the vehicles) can strengthen the Info On Wheels (IOW) programme which has been implemented nationwide, especially in rural areas, to make announcements on Covid-19, the Movement Control Order (MCO) and Covid-19 vaccines,” he told reporters after the launching ceremony at Universiti Teknologi MARA here today.
He said the vehicles could also be deployed and utilised as a media centre for media practitioners to produce news during the occurrence of disasters such as flooding or landslides.
Also present at the ceremony was JaPen director-general Datuk Mohd Sukari Ab Hamid.
Saifudin said the initiative was also aimed at ensuring the department’s preparedness, facilitating effective media management, information marketing and monitoring as well as saving costs in the setting up of a media centre.
KKMM planned to assign one vehicle to each state, depending on the necessity and existing budget, he added. _The Edge
