31 Palestinians in Malaysia receive aid
PUTRAJAYA: Thirty-one Palestinians living in the country were provided with necessities and cash aid from the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) Foodbank yesterday.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Muhammad Al-Bakri handed the aid at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) in Gombak and Usamah bin Zaid Mosque, Wangsa Maju.
Zulkifli said the assistance was part of a solidarity mission with the Palestinians, with a total of RM3.3 million involving aid in goods and cash for Palestinian families in Malaysia and Palestine.
He added that the aid was also used to finance the tuition fees of 135 Palestinian students, who continued their studies at 21 public and private universities in the country with a total cost of RM451,402.91.
“This initiative is in collaboration with Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia, Departments of Wakaf, Zakat, and Haj, and the Palestinian Progressive Association – Malaysia,” he said in a Facebook post today.
